How To Know God.

How To Receive Salvation.

The Bible tells us that God is the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth – things that we can see and things we can't see (Col 1:15-17). Everything was created by Him and for Him. He is perfect.

The Bible tells us that Adam, the first man God created, was the first to sin. That sinful nature, has been passed to every person ever since.

Romans 5:12, "When Adam sinned, sin entered the world.
Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned."

Like Adam, we have a sinful nature (Romans 3:23) choosing to disobey God and go our own selfish ways. The punishment we earn for our sins is death. Not just physical death, but spiritual death.

Romans 6:23, "The wages (earnings) of sin is death (spiritual separation from God).

Because God is perfect and obviously we are not, we are separated from Him. He can take no part in sin. God loves us and wants to have a relationship with us. He knows that our greatest joy and most abundant life is obtained through knowing Him. To bring people into a relationship with Him, both now and eternally, God has provided only one way for this to happen. God sent His son, Jesus, to the earth to live and die as the ultimate payment for every sin - past, present and future. The blood of Christ allows us to be reconciled to God. This is God's very special gift to each of us. This gift, known as Salvation, is the forgiveness of our sins, freedom from out sinful nature and the beginning of an everlasting relationship with God Almighty.

John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but will have eternal life."

Romans 5:8, "But God showed His great love for us by sending
Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."

1 Corinthians 15:3-6. "Christ died for our sins ... He was buried … He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures."

We each have a decision to make. It's not enough to just intellectually know about God, about His love for us and His gift. We must choose to believe in Jesus to accept this free gift from God. Then we can be in a position to have a relationship with God.

Ephesians 2:8-9, "God saved you by His grace when you believed.
And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God.
Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."

You can receive Christ right now, by faith, through prayer.

How do you do this? Though prayer.
Prayer is simply talking to God. God doesn't make a big deal about the words you choose as much as He does about the attitude of your heart. Tell God that you know you're a sinner and that you need His forgiveness, and that you are now ready to accept His gift of Jesus' death to you, making Jesus your personal Savior.

Romans 10:9-10, "That if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

Romans, 10:13, "For whoever will call upon the Name of the Lord will be saved."

Here is an example of a simple prayer you can pray to God. Saying this prayer is a way to declare that you are relying on Jesus Christ for your salvation. The words themselves will not save you. Only faith in Jesus Christ can provide salvation!

"God, I know that I have sinned against You and I am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I can be forgiven. With Your help, I place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness – the gift of eternal life! Amen!

If you prayed this prayer believing with all your heart that Jesus is the Son of God - He died on the cross to save you of your sins – He rose the third day just as He said He would then you are saved – a child of God. Nothing can undo this decision. You cannot lose your salvation. Eternal means eternal – forever.

1 John 5:11-13 says, "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life."

Now What?

We believe the next step after accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior is to follow Him in believer's baptism by immersion.

Romans 6:4, "For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives."
