SERVE THE CITY

Midland is full of amazing organizations who help address various needs across our city such as food insecurity, caring for the vulnerable, fighting against human trafficking, and so much more. Every Neighbor is the bridge to supporting community engagement by helping simplify the search for serving opportunities and connecting you with those in need as we shine the light of Christ into dark places all over our city.

Once you’re on our Every Neighbor Page, you can view upcoming service opportunities, check out details and / or requirements for getting involved, and can sign up – all in one convenient place!

LOVE ANOTHER

We all know someone who just needs to be loved in this season. Whether it’s the Single Mom or Dad you work with, the widow(er) across the street, or the grieving friend, the holiday season has no shortage of those who are hurting. Below, you can find a list of ways to be the light and share your life with someone in the coming months, whether it’s specific opportunities or generic ideas.

Operation Christmas Child | Sunday, 10.22 – Sunday, 11.12

Operation Christmas Child has been delivering gift-filled shoe boxes to kids around the world at Christmas for the last 30 years! You can pick up a shoe box in our foyer at the Shine Hub starting Sunday, October 22nd*. *All shoe boxes must be dropped back off to our Shine Hub in the foyer by Sunday, November 12th.

Adopt a Single-Mom Family for Christmas | Sunday, 11.12

Since 2015 we’ve loved and served our Single Moms through a free Conference where they get to enjoy a time of worship, special speakers, lunch, and fellowship with other Mamas. This year we gave each Mom the opportunity to sign up for a Christmas adoption! If you’d like to love on a Single-Mom Family in this way, come pick out an envelope at our Shine Hub in the foyer.

Love Without Limits | Friday, February 9th

One of our favorite events each year is Love Without Limits, our Prom for the Special Needs Community. It’s one big, fun, fancy party! This event takes hundreds of Servant Leaders willing to share their life and their time to help make it all happen.

Other Ideas:

• Invite a neighbor or co-worker over for a meal

• Take a meal to a widow(er), a new mom, or a family in need

• Invite someone over for Thanksgiving or Christmas who might otherwise be spending the holidays alone

CHANGE THE WORLD

Did you know that one billion people currently live in Bible poverty, with no translation of the Scripture available to them in their native language? If someone asked you how many different languages there are in the world, would you have ever guessed that there are just over seven-thousand?

Through a collective impact alliance of Bible translation partners and resource partners working together to eradicate Bible poverty in this generation, we have the opportunity to give financially to see every person on earth have access to God’s Word. Something as small as all of us giving up a few lunches at Chick-Fil-A or making coffee at home for a few weeks could go as far as giving thousands the Word of God in their own language for the very first time. If that’s not shining a light in the darkness, we don’t know what is!
